A P-20 Vision for Learning

member  resource

The Framework 2021: A P-20 Vision for Learning in Colorado project is a grass-roots effort, developed by teachers and for teachers. Framework 2021 addresses the pressing problems of student engagement; development of students’ thinking, problem-solving, and life skills, and lack of alignment of teaching and learning skills across grade levels pre-school through university (P-20).

Upon completion, Framework 2021 will be a cohesive matrix of 35 combinations of Elements and Learning Design Strategies.

CO ASCD conducted Gallery Gatherings (regional forums) to solicit insights and ideas about what is needed to enhance instruction in ways that better engage students, deepen their content knowledge, and improve their ability to solve real-world problems. These ideas were grouped into seven categories, called Learning Design Strategies

Framework 2021 is designed to assist teachers in engaging students in real world applications that accommodate culturally diverse contexts. Framework 2021 provides teachers with a coordinated matrix of Learning Design Strategies which create learning experiences that prepare students for the world in which they will work and contribute in the future.

Framework 2021 is predicated on the idea that learning takes place in and out of the classroom, encourages social, collaborative, and supported student learning. Aligned and crafted with the Whole Child tenets in mind, Framework 2021 provide teachers with techniques to aid students' health, safety, engagement, support, and challenges. The Framework provides levels that help demonstrate a gradual shift in responsibility for learning from instructors to students.
